A Prayer For All

 

 

 

Dear Lord, good and gracious God, Hear our call,

We know You are the great Creator of all;

All of our world, its depths and that above,

You have made for us and filled with Your love.

 

We know it was all made to perfection,

Then ‘twas placed under mankind’s direction;

And Lord, ‘tis our responsibility,

It to share in peaceful tranquility.

 

From time to time, there are some who appear,

And seek to gain through violence and fear;

Terror and meekness they seek to induce,

Through pain and destruction they do produce.

 

Help us this destruction we can repair,

And the fear and pain to comfort with care;

Bless those that suffer, that they find solace,

And guide our efforts, to be of service.

 

Help us too, the oppressor to resist,

His evil methods to not let persist;

To not let him seek benefit or gain,

At the cost of those he makes suffer pain.

 

Lord, bless those that have been made to suffer,

And help us become for them a buffer;

Let us be the ones to which they can turn,

And that Your compassion we all may learn.

 

Lord, help us to be our brother’s keeper,

A sewer of good, and thus its reaper;

We do seek that the bad we can replace,

And help make Your world still a better place.
