The Last Thing Left Is Love
There were some times back when, our life was a struggle,
Living seemed hard to win, and we faced some trouble;
Lots of bills hard to pay, we couldn’t climb above,
Together we’d still stay, the last thing left is Love.
The last thing left is Love, ‘tis what our life’s made of,
Don’t mind if it gets rough, the last thing left is Love.
Blessings we did receive, the children we did raise,
Each a joy to conceive, and all their early days;
Nurturing them to grow, and their futures to think of,
Their paths on which to go, the last thing left is Love.
The last thing left is Love, ‘tis what their lives speak of,
Still always its enough, the last thing left is Love.
These years that we now share, happily together,
Living in hope and care, all things we can weather;
More comfort and success, more blessings to speak of,
And still if all were less, the last thing left is Love.
The last thing left is Love, ‘tis what I’m most proud of,
Nothing else comes above, the best thing left is Love.
And when the time does come, hopefully far away,
This life we will part from, beginning Heaven’s stay;
All this life left behind, joining the Lord above,
Together we won’t mind, the last thing left is Love.
The last thing left is Love, we’ll still share it above,
For the great promise of, the best thing left is Love.
