Holiday Version Of You

I really love Christmas, it’s such a special time,

So some thoughts I’d like to share in this little rhyme;

Because the thing about Christmas I love the best,

Is how the best from us all it seems is expressed.

It seems at Christmas that we more readily see,

The better kind of people that we all can be;

There’s more willingness with one another to share,

There’s more evidence that for each other we care.

As the Christmas season gladly starts to unfold,

Part of the season’s magic we get to behold;

We each seem to find a better person inside,

And for the season let him or her be the guide.

A very Merry Christmas I want to wish to

That special better holiday version of you;

And I hope as it takes charge this season again,

For the whole New Year in control it will remain.

For if that holiday version of each ourselves,

Throughout the whole year in all of our life it delves;

Imagine how much better that our life could be,

Imagine the improvements that we might just see.

Less annoyed we would respond when things did go wrong;

More kind-heartedly with others we’d get along;

More willing we would be to help others in need;

More blessing we’d feel when our efforts do succeed.

So, this Christmas I hope your better self enjoys,

Not just decorations, events, new gifts and toys;

But the fellowship of good people all around,

Family, friends, or some new acquaintances found.

This season may your better self be so impressed,

With the magic compassion may you be so blessed,

That your better version of you decides to stay,

For Christmas, New Years, and every other day.
