Legacy of Love

In Love, God created all that there is,

We barely know this creation of His;

It stretches farther than we can perceive,

And it’s more detailed than we can conceive.

Its grandeur and beauty more than excel,

The greatest art we’ve done or ever shall;

This wonderful world and all up above,

Was the First of God’s Three Great Gifts of Love.

When as a race, mankind vainly struggled,

We fell short and all of us were troubled;

Humbling Himself, He became one of us,

That Christmas Blessing, the birth of Jesus.

This Gift was more than example supreme,

A guideline for life better than our dream;

When we still failed in all our mortal tries,

He bore our sins in His own sacrifice.

“No greater love than laying down one’s life,”

He also bore all of our sins and strife;

His birth and death, as a redemption plan,

Was the second of His Great Gifts to Man.

Indeed, in Love, God created us all,

Our love in return, from us He does call;

Another Great Gift on us He did spare,

With each other this Love we get to share.

As husband and wife, or parent and child,

Brothers, sisters, uncles, aunts all compiled;

We share our love with friends and family,

Truly a great blessing for you and me.

For even in the Bible, way back when,

A Covenant God established with men;

And as it was passed from father to son,

Not to the first-born, but the most “loved” one.

God’s blessing for us is still this great Love,

For its what our family is made of;

Looking back through the branches of our tree,

Love is truly our greatest legacy.

There are grandparents with eyes that twinkle,

With smiles that out-shine any old wrinkle;

There are aunts who give you the greatest hug,

And then bless you as they still hold you snug.

There are children that happily do play,

With cousins they think they just met today;

For cousins are a special kind of friend,

We renew over and over again.

And as together we get to gather,

The room buzzing with laughter and chatter;

This legacy of love we all renew,

Through generations to each one of you

This love that we share with one another,

With cousins, nieces, sisters and brother;

Is the third of God’s Three Great Gifts to us,

To love each other even as God does.

Love,

Daniel
