Whatever Makes Christmas Christmas For You

 

  

Christmas is a very busy time of the year,

Full of festivities spreading holiday cheer;

But the thing for you that makes the magic come true,

That is whatever makes Christmas Christmas for you.

 

Maybe it’s decorations, beautiful and bright,

A tree or a wreath that’s put together just right,

Lights that are hung to shine, twinkle or glow just so,

That once you have seen them then its Christmas you know.

 

Maybe it’s the music, certain carols or songs,

That you know to the holiday season belongs;

As soon as they are heard, in your mind they remain,

And you know for certain it’s Christmas once again.

 

Maybe it’s a choir or some other performance,

That assures you of the season’s great importance;

Or that once a year movie or holiday show,

That now it is Christmas you definitely know.

 

Maybe it’s a certain special holiday treat,

That the smell or taste tells you the season you greet;

Something for which you have waited the whole year long,

‘Cause any other time of year would just seem wrong.

 

Maybe it’s gatherings of friends and family,

This time of year you’re blessed that them you get to see;

Special times and memories to create and share,

Magic moments overflowing with love and care.

 

Maybe it’s some combination of the above,

That does make this the season of Joy, Peace and Love;

For you the combination may vary a bit,

But there’s something special that you know this is it.

 

Some will say that traditions are not a big deal,

But how warm and comfortable they make us feel;

Because it’s those special things that you choose to do,

That is whatever makes Christmas Christmas for you.
