These are cute Christmas stories that are intended to be used as a gift exchange game.  While entertaining enough to just be read, the story and game also result in a fun way to exchange anonymous gifts (e.g. grab bag, white elephant, etc. - gift cards work well).  Here is an example:

Let me explain how this works, so you'll understand;

Please gather in a circle with a gift in hand;

What gift you wind up with we will soon enough see,

But you will have to pay close attention to me.

Each time in the story that "Left" or "Right" you hear,

That direction you pass to the person most near.

Listen for other ways that these words I might use,

"Leftover" or "alright" are some ways I might choose;

If so, another pass you should then promptly make,

As around the circle, a journey the gifts take.

On each back and forth move your fortune will depend,

As you wind up with what you're holding at "The End."
